Breaktime Bible Study: Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors

See what they spew from their mouths—the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?” Psalm 59:7

Wouldn’t it be awesome to go through life with words worth hearing? The darts of words from David's peers were headed towards his heart, and yet his heart cried out to God. David’s kept himself from bending under the force of hurtful words by turning to God’s promises.

We all have been hurt by the words of others. Sometimes it is difficult to dodge them when they come our way. The secret David shared is to call out to God for His truth.

We often think we can say words without them reaching the offender, but often we know they soon hear them. Words have a way of making there way out into the open. Be cautious of thinking what is said behind closed doors will never make their way out. Take care of the heart before opening the mouth to share words. Keeping our hearts before God will keep it clean and unoffended. Can you imagine your words being used to bring healing?

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
