Breaktime Bible Study: Where do we start with Evil?

Where do you start with evil?

You, LORD God Almighty, you who are the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to wicked traitors. Psalm 59:5

Show no mercy to the wicked is David’s request. What a courageous request David makes to the Lord God Almighty. He understands God as being over evil and the truth that He can choose to punish the nations. David takes the matters of vengeance out of his hands and now places them into the hands of Almighty God.

Coming to grips with God’s power will keep our heart consistently coming to God. We can ask God to do more than what we can imagine. But why do we hesitate to ask? David asked God to punish and show no mercy to the wicked. Instead of allowing hate and anger to grow in our hearts, let us reach out to God’s Greatness and dare to ask Him.

What can you imagine God doing to the wicked in our world? There are many things we can try to do to overcome evil, but the most excellent place to start is with God. Begin with God’s perspective, and it will give light to the darkness of evil. Prayer opens the door for us to peek into what God can do.
