Breaktime Bible Study: We Don't Need to be Discouraged

We Don’t Need to Be Discouraged

I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. Psalm 57:9

David found a way to express himself amid persecution. What could he possibly do when his enemy was pressing in on him? What would there be to do except panic and become discouraged? David didn’t find relief by relying on discouragement to carry him through, but he rose above −his mind and heart turned to praise. He turned his tongue away from slandering his enemies and set it on praise.

Where do you turn when life becomes troubled? What are the words you share with others when life is pressing in? Let’s be honest; we may have to vent and even panic before we can feel like praising. But instead of settling for discouragement, try opening your mouth to show appreciation for who God is.

It is a choice we can make when troubles arise. We will find our words and heart-changing when we open our mouth to praise. Our words are a reflection of our heart. A hard heart will turn to bitterness, but today your heart will be softened with praise. Have a change of heart today and begin by finding a reason to praise.
