Breaktime Bible Study: A Banner

A Banner

But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. Psalm 60:4

A banner lifted over us is symbolic of the truth that we stand for. When we know God as our truth, He raises a banner over us. David is a man who knew God and lived his life standing under His cause. He not only positioned but practiced living the truth every day.

We all are under a banner of truth. It is the banner of truth we have adopted as our truth. We all believe in something as a way of life, even if we have no faith. We can tell what banner we are under by the way we do life. If the banner lifted up is self, then life’s truth becomes about what pleases us. The kind of philosophy that way, I will do what I want when I want to. Under this banner, the only truth is what satisfies self.

When we turn to God and follow His ways, He raises the banner over us. This banner represents the truth we have decided to follow. God’s truth brings deliverance from self and the cravings of the flesh. Look up and see the banner you have chosen to follow. What is your banner stating?
