Breaktime Bible Study: Hardships

Hardships

Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression? Psalm 44:24

God doesn’t hide his face even though at times it may appear as if He does. Although through a season, as the Israelite's are facing, God appears aloof, His love is still pounding for His people, but His interaction seems distant. The question we quickly ask is “Why” but it is difficult to understand.

Understanding that God is good, even though life is difficult, will give us strength. We should not allow our life situation to determine how we will respond but this is much easier said than done. The truth is, the trial doesn’t have the power to make us who we are without our permission. The heart can stay quiet even in adversity.

There are many lessons to learn when hardships come our way and we can become exhausted asking ourselves why, but we can gain confidence when we turn towards God. The emptiness we may be experiencing isn’t God turning away but a lesson on letting go of what we thought should happen. When we stop resisting the change, we can learn the lesson. Sometimes things go badly and blaming God isn’t the answer but seeking God to lead us to wholeness is the best way.
