Breaktime Bible Study: The Battle is Won

The Battle is Won

8 Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Psalm 60:8

David is shouting out his God victory, for he knew this victory is only because of the hands of God. David, like other kings after him, could have turned towards the strength of numbers and shouted their success to their warriors. But instead, David’s victory isn't found in the numbers of warriors, but in God who reigns.

David and his warriors are choosing to place their strength in God. David’s faith in God’s power is where the victory lies. David took his battle to the Lord and found the army of God fighting for him.

Friends, we have the same resource for all our battles. Every trouble we face can be met head-on with the courage that only God gives. The temptation is to look at all the ways we will be conquered and live in despair. We can focus on the lack of resources we have and fall into defeat. But God is the One who says to us,

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39
