Breaktime Bible Study: Words matter

Words Speak

My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. Psalm 45:1

The Psalmist has a heart filled with words of love, as a skilled writer expressing himself to his king needs words which will accurately express his heart. The vulnerability of a heart filled with charm for his recipient is to be cherished.

The words we ascribe to the world, whether written or spoken, are a mirror of our heart. When our heart is bent towards the world through a loving place, we find words which will strengthen and encourage all that hear. A heart stirred with love is someone who knows the love of God and has accepted his words deep within.

He had something to say for people to hear which would reveal his heart of love. We all show our heart when we speak to our neighbor. Think of the words you speak and ask yourself, are they worth hearing? Do others want to listen to what you have to say because your heart is saturated first with compassion for the hearers?
