Breaktime Bible Study: Exalting

Exalting

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. Psalm 57:11

There are many ideas we can exalt in life, imagining they are going to produce success. We try to promote our thoughts, plans, and find purpose as we feel a moment of accomplishment. We can strive our whole life trying to exalt ourselves but still feel like nothing we have done matters.

But David didn’t turn to self-exaltation, we find him here turning his attention to God. He learned to exalt God no matter where he found himself. Peeking out of a dark cave and staring into the night, his mind imagined God is exalted above all. His life gradually finds perspective amid the callousness of his enemies.

Like David, we too can choose to find God in all of life. We can take a peek out of our surroundings and look into the nature of God and see his glory. We, too, can allow our minds to be captured and held by the grandeur of God’s exaltation. Instead of practicing self-exaltation, put into work your faith and let who God is, keep you in place. Sometimes in life, it is good to be put in our place and realize God is exalted above all.
