Breaktime Bible Study: The Piercing of the Heart

The Piercing of the Heart

Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet. Psalm 45:5

The Lord does not miss when he aims his arrows for when His Word is spoken; it is aimed at the heart. The heart is the core of where conviction resides. The Word of God is compared to an arrow which is drawn and headed straight toward the spot in the heart which needs attention.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The Word of God is where we go to have authority over our lives with all of our motives. The Word is alive and brings activation in our hearts. The core of who we are is where the Word brings in truth. When we hear and read the Word of God, we are inviting ourselves into the judgment of our thoughts and attitudes. This process can bring enlightenment and give us the strength to live upright.

There are many words we can hear each day, but the Word of God will bring what we need to hear. Will we be brave enough to allow the arrows of the Word to make its way through to our heart? When we receive the Word of God, will the next step be to fall beneath it in repentance?
