Breaktime Bible Study: Practicing Faith

Practicing Faith

Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. Psalm 56:9

David has a fantastic life perspective on God’s provision. He is comforted, knowing God can and will overcome his enemies, especially the targets of the heart. David knew he wouldn’t be able to lead while allowing fear to rule in his heart. David had enemies, and yet he didn’t let their presence overcome his core.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

God is for us; therefore, He can’t be against us. It may feel at times that God is against us, but even that is an enemy ploy. The enemy tries to create bouts of fear and doubt because he knows it will take our eyes off of God and on to our problem. The enemy tries to convince us that worry will see us through, and yet we know fear creates more separation from faith.

David practiced the promises and presence of God. Like David, we can exercise God’s presence each day. We take God at His word regardless of how we feel for we walk in the truth of the Word. We call out to God in all our doubts and discouragement and seek Him in all our ways. God can bring Himself and sit with us and offer us peace and truth.
