Breaktime: A System of Revenge
A System of Revenge
at the taunts of those who reproach and revile me, because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge. Psalm 44:16
It should not come as a surprise to the Psalmist that the enemy is bent of revenge. One of the enemies goals is to seek retaliation, and Israel was the aim. The enemy will use all of the arsenals he can find until his attack is satisfied and complete. In the last several verses, he fought with things like shame, the opinion of others, and went so far as captivity, just to name a few.
The enemy is still fighting to get us to retreat into his camp. He uses very similar tactics to get us to walk off the path of peace and into his field of war but remember, surrender begins in the heart. The minute unbelief begins to invade; we open ourselves up to the enemy’s revenge. He enjoys the moments when we get offended and shameful.
Friends, we can expect the enemy to seek revenge on us, but we don’t have to surrender except to victory. The presence of God continues in the now to bring us to a place of peace with Him. We can walk on in faith or surrender to unbelief. We may not know all His tactics, but when we allow ourselves to remain in complete dependence on God, revenge fails.
