Breaktime: Contrast

What a Contrast

By day the Lord directs his love, at night, his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:8

David now turns from the anguish of the soul to the answer. He turns from pity to promise. David transforms from being overwhelmed by the problem, to allow the solution to rise. He went from discouragement to finding the courage to face life. He found the power of Gods love directing his day and night as conversations with God began settling his heart.

We can probably look back and find the same contrast in our life. One day may have no answers and be filled with gloom, but the next, we find God’s love consuming us. It is often through suffering and anguish, where we see a new level of God’s love. We can begin to understand how God has already seen everything and knows the steps forward.

God will never fail us, but it usually takes a step into the darkness to realize the light. David turns to God in honest conversation and no longer allows the night to override the truth. But if we keep focused on the dark, will we ever see the light? God is always ready to talk and listen to us and He constantly desires to carry the torch in the dark and show us the way.
