Breaktime: The Bright Side

The Bright Side

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God. Psalm 42:5

David, in his depressed state, is now asking himself why my soul are you downcast. He was in a state of mind where his only hope was God. He enters a frame of mind where he seems to feel sorry for himself. Even though his soul was in the dark of night, he could recall his hope. He could peak into the bright side and realize there is a reason to praise.

We have all been through the dark night where the soul is downcast, where problems are insurmountable. The feelings we are experiencing are convincing us life is disturbing, and it is in this place; God is teaching us a more significant presence other than ours.

When life is bringing dark times, look for the light. Allowing God to show us He is the One on our side is what God desires us to know. There is a bright side because God has promised He will take care of us. We are His children, and He is for us, who could be against us. It is often through the garden of trials where we find the coming joy. Face the problem head-on and allow faith to you to hope. It is God’s presence, which enables us to find peace in life, not our situation. Seek God and find him there.
