Breaktime: Couch of Pain

Couch of Pain

The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. Psalm 41:3

David knew the comfort God provided during the difficult seasons of life. He knew what it was like to lose a son and experience the pains of an illness. David knew God didn’t take away the pain, but God would walk alongside him through the anguish.

Sometimes in life, God doesn’t remove the affliction but strengthens us through it. When loved ones offer comfort, the bed of sickness becomes a litter softer. When suffering alone, the bed becomes hard, the heart heartened, and illness worsens.

Knowing God’s presence during sickness can strengthen the feeble soul to hope again. Through illness, we can experience God’s sustainability through his hands of strength, lifting us. God shows us a greater witness of His love and cares, which restores our faith. Suffering can be the highest time of growth because God is there revealing Himself in more considerable measure.
