Breaktime: God Looking on You

God Looking on You

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Psalm 40:4

David understood the blessings that flow out of a relationship with the Lord. He knew walking with the Lord was where he could find his refuge and purpose for his existence, which kept David from seeking his ego for meaning and significance in life. He didn’t buy into the lie of turning towards idols for meaning.

When our trust is in the Lord, it keeps our ego in check. We find the meaning of life not in our accomplishments or possessions, but solely in a relationship with the Lord. The Lord reveals our true self through His word and leads us to follow His design for us instead of developing false flattery.

This way of living can cause a lot of bumps and bruises along the way because it may go against what the ego craves, a false identity. The ego’s way of recognition is usually self-promotion and trust in self. Where the promotion God gives us leads to being blessed in Him. The hunger to be noticed can always be satisfied knowing God sees it all, and He is looking on us and adores who we are. This is where we find our true self.
