Breaktime Bible Study: Change My Words

Change my Words
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Psalm 40:3

David is asking God to change his heart by changing his words. He is asking God to give him a new song which will give God praise, and as a result of this hymn, many will begin to trust God through David’s witness. Music is something which moves David’s heart into a place of fear and trust. David was rescued from his despair, and now he has a new song of joy in his heart.

What happens when we allow God to show up in the middle of our life circumstances? We sing a new song as our heart becomes a place of peace, and joy becomes our strength. We can become free when God rescues us and sets our feet on the ground of the truth.

When we stop singing new songs, could it be the heart has become a substantial place? When stress and anxiousness enter our life, it becomes difficult for joy to give us strength. This is the place God lifts us up to provide us with a new song. God desires to change our song and give us new words, so the question becomes, will we let Him?
