Breaktime: Wits End
For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me. Psalm 38:17
David is now at his end and has just had enough and is ready to fall. He is contemplating sin as he is sinking deep under his burdens. He is ready to let go because he can’t handle one more thing on his mind or heart. Aren’t we thankful that even the strongest of men in the Word show their fragility? David become vulnerable and admitted his place as he didn’t live in denial but was honest before God.
The barking dogs are standing behind the door of our heart ready for us to participate with their accusing and tempting voices. Sin is like the barking dog which is a constant reminder of how frail we truly are. When we pay attention to the noise behind the wall it becomes a constant irritant and this is the place David was in, he was constantly being reminded of his sin and the agony of failure.
We must all remember, the enemy loves to rain on us. How careful we have to be to not allow those voices to become the path of choice. Prayer blocks out all the voices of hell which are trying to overcome us. The voice of defeat is what the enemy wants us to engage with instead of listening to the truth of our position in Christ. It is under times of scrutiny when God reveals His greatness so look to Him today until you hear the truth of your position.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. I John 4:4
