Do you Need Forgiveness

Do you Need Forgiveness

My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly.  Psalm 38:5

When the soul becomes diseased with sin, the body begins to experience the dark effects. When the conscience becomes seared and no longer helps to lead us to truth, the smell of sin soon follows. David says his wounds began to fester because of the growth of sin and his foolishness leads to moral decay of the soul. Notice the author does not blame sin on others but takes the responsibility for his own sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. I John 1:8-10

One thing is certain, David didn’t deny his sin but admitted his wrong. When we realize our sin, it does hurt and sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Some people deny the existence of sin because it becomes difficult to cope with their sin. But we have a Savior who is willing to forgive because Jesus doesn’t expect us to carry the weight of sin but admit the wrong. Will we confess or continue to deny the existence of sin?  When we confess our sins, Jesus will forgive.
