Breaktime: God Will Not Forsake You

“For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.” Psalm 37:28

Again, David compared the just with the wrongdoers and the end awaiting them. God’s very nature is just and faithful, and when His nature lives within us, it is pleasing to the Lord. The promise for us is that He will not forsake us, His faithful ones. We can enjoy the assurance of God’s continual presence, and we no longer have to live in doubt or fear because God is constant.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6

God doesn’t leave us when we are tempted. When other loves try to overcome His love, He walks with us through it all. He is the source for us to become overcomers in this world. He is our daily renewing presence which we can lean on, and He doesn’t expect us to fight the battle of sin alone.

The wicked, however, turn from all His love and goodness and plan their life according to their sin. God doesn’t have any room in their life because their hearts are hardened. However, those who turn towards Him will find Him waiting with open arms.
