A Deeper Understanding

“Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.” Psalm 36:6

God’s righteousness is firm and unmovable, and He isn’t affected by the circumstances of life; He is always just. We may not always comprehend his ways because they are beyond our understanding. We often try and reason with God on our limited understanding and find ourselves disappointed with God. We need to constantly remind ourselves that God’s ways are higher, and try to break through our limited consideration.

Often, we try and tell God how to respond to the world we live in. Maybe David had to pen this to remind us God’s ways go beyond reason. There is no just reason why we should pray for our enemies let alone love them, but that is God’s righteous and just way. We often demand our rights instead of waiting on God to pave our way through His just system.

Our mind is trained to think about God in a way of limited understanding, even with all the teachings we have received. Could it be that David knew God beyond limited ways and sought after Him with his whole heart? Maybe it’s time to stop coming to a limited God and allow Him to break through some of our limited understanding.

Do you approach God thinking you already know, or can you be taught?
