Breaktime: Turn Off The Noise

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes” Psalm 37:7

Some things cause so much noise that we can hardly hear our loved ones trying to communicate. We can become distracted with fretting over people’s success we can hardly hear the voice of what God has achieved in us. We can hardly see God’s ways because they have become blinded by the wicked ways of others which may be appealing.

There is a cure for this madness and it’s called ‘turning down the noise’. Envy is one of the loudest voices we can hear, especially in a competitive world. We can even get caught in the act of comparing ourselves to others and envy can become loud. But how do we escape its clutches? This may sound ridiculous to us, but David is saying to be still. What in the world is He asking us to do? Remove ourselves from the noise till we can hear what God is saying. For some of us that may sound like pure torture because we have gotten so accustomed to a fast paced, driven, cut throat environment.

Being quiet means, the loudest voice is what God is saying. He is more concerned with our motive than what we are doing. His answer for our envy is one promise away. He fills our mind and heart with His promises, instead of the gnawing anxious ways of our surroundings. Being quiet could be exactly what is needed for our physical, emotional and spiritual health, they are all connected because they have the same Creator who desire to speak.

Today in the Workplace:

Take a rest in the Lord. He’s been waiting to speak to you.
