God Believes in You

May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness;
may they always say, “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.” Psalm 35:27

What an encouraging way to master life’s issues by allowing yourself to get caught up in praise. We can be entangled and distracted by all the unjust ways people treat us, or we can allow praise to bring us back to see through a different eye. It's not always easy to go beyond what's fair to whatever’s freeing. David didn’t allow his enemies to defeat him because he chose another perspective. He stilled Himself in the presence of God, instead of being swallowed up in anger.

This is a grim task for us as followers of Christ. It doesn’t always feel right to pursue praise and shouts of joy instead of vengeance. When we chose praise, it may seem like we are letting our enemies off the hook because we are not pursuing their penalty. But when we begin to praise, it frees us from the prison of resentment and holding a grudge.

God delights Himself in our well-being which means He has our best interest in mind. He cares more for us than our closest friend and we have been shown it’s not based on our performance. When He thinks of us, He can see the best we are and then teaches what He sees. David understood God was always right there with Him pursuing His best.
