Does Your Heart Know

Lord, you have seen this; do not be silent. Do not be far from me, Lord. Psalm 35:22

David knew God as the One who sees all his situations and hears all that is happening to him. David knew the deep insurance in His heart that God was watching over him even though life had misfortune. The fortunate thing is David was secure in his relationship and knew God had his best interest. He needed God’s help and didn’t hesitate to bring his heart before God −David was needy.

Is there something we can learn from David’s relationship with God? Could it be we may hesitate to bring our concerns before God and be humble enough to ask what we would like God to do? David trusted God solely for his welfare and was humble enough to assert his request. If God could speak up on our behalf who would we want him to speak too? David wanted God to speak to silence his foes.

What we really need to know is that God is near to us and David assures us with these words:

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18.

It's not like we forget but often we don’t act as if God is near. Its one thing to know cognitively God is with us but another to have our heart respond in faith as if he is going to take care of us.
