Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. Psalm 34:9
Having wants and desires often speaks to what we do and how we do it. We all have daily consumption’s we need to reckon with as we can become obsessed with our work, family, friends or money just to name a few. Not that any of these are wrong but when they are out of balance, they can become unhealthy needs. We can start using them to try and fill an emptiness which only God can fill.
When our attentions become deterred from the Lord, we can soon discover our life is lacking. We can become restless and discontent with the mundane and we can soon grumble and complain because life is taking its toll and we are no longer amused.
There is good news for all of us. Life no longer must be despairing. When we turn towards God in humility, we find all that we need waiting for us. We will find He gives us contentment and vision for the day and we soon find life pleasurable because we are no longer striving. We can never really know freedom from the wants of life until we fear God. When we stop chasing after endless desires only to find a recurring emptiness, then we will find true contentment.
