Driving out Evil
May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away; Psalm 35:5
David again is asking God to take care of his enemies. He is asking the Lord to drive them away and may they not come near him. David is asking God to take them away as quick as they cause trouble. There are some people who like to stir the pot and often do it quickly because of a strife filled heart, eager to bring hate and discord.
Wouldn’t it be great if evil was done away with forever? We are not there yet for we are still living on this side of heaven, so we live in a world filled with good and evil. David knew how to pray against the evil present in his life and he brought it before God and asked Him to turn it away. We can pray the same prayer David prayed and ask God to removed evil from us.
The last thing we want to do is participate with its deception. The goal of evil is to turn us towards its devises. Its desire is to eat away at the heart until we are responding with its same evil intent. We have to protect our heart and continue to bring God’s goodness into the scenes of life which are bringing heartache.
