How to Overcome

The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all..." Psalm 34:19

We will have troubles even if we are doing what is right because we live and breathe in a broken world. We live in a world where people’s choices affect us. We live in a world where disease and sickness prevail. We live in a world where sin rules. We enter into this world each day of our life and often have to fight to do the right thing. Many of the people we are surrounded by are making choices which cause us grief. But James says to us,

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4

There is work God is producing in us when troubles come our way. It is not always easy to consider it joy when we are facing them, but we can see in hindsight the lessons we learned. The Lord delivers us from our troubles, but often not in the way we think. How God delivers us from them is all His choosing. Often, we may find joy in the midst of trials, which is God’s way of allowing the trouble to overcome us. God can provide wisdom in the midst of trial which is delivering us from overthinking.

God has many ways of delivering us from our trials and it's not always taking them away but teaching us through them a higher way. We can learn the peace of God through trials with His overwhelming presence consuming our unbelief. We can learn love through a trial when we are tempted to be overcome by hate. God can lead us through with His provisions.
