When Disappointment Happens
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:22
Unfailing love is not something we often discuss but imagine a love which is so authentic and true that every intention one has towards us is good. God’s love for us is nothing short of perfect because His love is motivated to always be unfailing in the way it reveals itself to us.
For some, this may be difficult to believe because bad things have happened in our life which may have left us hopeless. We may feel totally opposite of what this verse is saying or we may not believe the best thing is to put our hope and trust in the Lord. These feelings are exactly what God needs to hear from us if we ever get to this place of despair. God can handle where we are in regard to our relationship with Him for this is exactly the place God is showing himself to us and He doesn’t expect His children to hide their feelings but to admit their disappointment.
However, all too often we try to hide our part of disappointment with God and when we do, it soon suffocates hope. When hope is forgotten, it can truly lead to some dark places in our lives. The way out is sincerity with God and bringing our wounds to the God who can heal. Hiding wounds will only lead to a further hopeless state but Gods unfailing love can be trusted.
