Being Stubborn

Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.
— Ps. 32:9

God isn’t a control freak that demands your will. God could have made us people who follow despite our will and controlled us with his hand. Just like a horse needs the bit and bridle to teach him his way despite his intention we could have been made the same, but God desires for us to follow him from a willing heart.

When our heart is touched by the love and understanding of who God is, we can’t help but desire to follow. He is not a controlling, angry God who shakes his fist trying to manipulate control over us for it’s his loving kindness which leads us to repentance. It's knowing that even while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. It is experiencing the Good news of forgiveness, living deep within our heart.

It’s not what we do to reach God and to follow Him but its what has already been done that has made the way. We aren’t good enough, but by His love, He restores us through Jesus to follow Him. The stubborn keep resisting the love and power of God insisting their way while the humble realize they don’t have what it takes and allow themselves to be led by the hand of God.

Are your resisting or are you following?
